“Is there any chance you were making wishes out there on those waves?” enquired Ina the Dugong dreamily after she had surfed in from above.
“Hey, hey, g’day! Do you want to come and play?” called out two friendly and playful dolphins. “There’s a wave happening!” they beckoned. Their names were Dilly and Dally and they liked to hang out at the perfect break. Right where the crocodiles and sharks kept each other at bay.
“What’s that?” she trembled. “Why has it gone all dark all of a sudden? Hey guys, what’s happening? Where has the sunlight gone?” At that moment in glided Boris the Manta Ray from above, his big black wings ...
One of the many raps that Torri sings to encourage herself during her epic journey
Go to linkMat Vanderklift from the CSIRO is responsible for the turtle tagging and monitoring program at Exmouth and they have just tagged a mother turtle who they have named Torri ... after our very own Torri!
Go to linkAs morning approached, Torri had travelled far and made her way up to the north-eastern coast of Australia. From here she was set to head along the coastline of the Cape York Peninsula. Torri was hoping that she was making progress and heading in the right direction. She was now sure that she wanted to be in synch with this mysterious magnetic force.
And so with that, Geronimoo gathered Torri up within his gigantic tail, lifted her high into the air and with one great supernatural flick, sent her flying. In mid-air Torri heard Geronimoo call out, “Head west once you splash down! Safe travels.”
“Oh, my gosh!” gasped Torri, suddenly realising, “That’s why I’m here. This is where I was born. Ningaloo Reef was my first home and where I needed to return to lay my first ever clutch of eggs and hatch my very own turtle babies.”
